1. INTRODUCTION

The ZOKUOMTHAWN SPORTS MEET – 2026 was officially inaugurated on 23rd July, 2026 at D.J. Turf Ground, South Point, Simveng. Organised by the Zou Sangnaupang Pawlpi – General Headquarters (ZSP-GHQ), the meet aims to foster unity, discipline, healthy competition, and youth development among Zou youth across Joint Headquarters, Blocks, Units, and Villages.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by dignitaries, church leaders, youth leaders, officials, participating teams, and community members.

2. PROCEEDINGS OF THE CEREMONY

The programme was conducted as per the following order:

1. Compering
   The programme was gracefully compered by Miss Prena Manlun, who ensured the smooth conduct of the entire ceremony.
2. ZSP Anthem
   The gathering sang the ZSP Anthem: “Thou Un! Thou Un! Thou Un!” with enthusiasm, reflecting the spirit of unity.
3. Opening Prayer
   The invocation was led by Upa Chinkhenpau, seeking God’s blessings for the successful and peaceful conduct of the sports meet.
4. Official Report
   Pu Solomon Mung, General Secretary, ZSP-GHQ, presented the official report. He highlighted the purpose of the meet, the preparations undertaken by ZSP-GHQ, and expressed appreciation to all who contributed toward making the event possible.
5. Speeches
   Inspirational addresses were delivered by the following dignitaries:
   • Chief Guest: Pu Nengchinlam Munluo
   • Guest of Honour: Pu M. Thangpu Zou
   • Functional President: Pu Lamsienmuan Taithul
   • Chief Host: Pu Hauminthang
   • President, ZSP-GHQ: Pu Khamsuanpao
   The speakers underscored the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, leadership, teamwork, and community solidarity. They lauded ZSP-GHQ for the initiative and urged participants to uphold discipline and sportsmanship.
6. Vote of Thanks
   Pu James, Finance Secretary, ZSP-GHQ, delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, guests, participating teams, officials, sponsors, and volunteers for their support.
7. Closing Prayer
   The benediction was pronounced by Upa Rejoice Milun, committing the event and all participants to God’s care.
8. Ceremonial Kick-off
   The ceremony concluded with the Ceremonial Kick-off performed by the Chief Guest, Pu Nengchinlam Munluo, formally marking the commencement of the ZOKUOMTHAWN SPORTS MEET – 2026.
9. CONCLUSION
   The Opening Ceremony was conducted in an orderly and festive manner. It set a positive tone for the tournament and reflected ZSP-GHQ’s commitment to promoting youth engagement, healthy living, and unity through sports. The event concluded with renewed zeal and anticipation for the competitions ahead under the motto: Thou Un! Thou Un! Thou Un!
